How many of us know these platitudes by heart and yet ignore them on a daily basis? Self-care is one of the most important cornerstones of Health and wellbeing and yet one of the most neglected. Many of us are so busy caring for others that we neglect ourselves. Stress and burnout are more common now than ever before. For over a year we have all been living in the midst of a global pandemic and it is more important now than ever before to pause, reflect and take care of yourself! Give yourself the kind of care and attention you would give to a much-loved family member or friend.
Self-care comes in many different shapes and sizes. Think about what energiz=ses you… is it a walk in the fresh air, a quick nap, half an hour with your favorite book, a twenty-minute mindfulness session or a phone call with your best mate? Whatever it is, do it today! There is no one size fits all when it comes to self-care… take a moment to think about what you need and indulge yourself.
How about your physical health? Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals, are you getting enough sleep, how about that sore knee or achy stomach you have been ignoring? If going to your GP seems like a step too far or an hour you do not have, then take 10 minutes and call your local pharmacy for a quick chat with a Pharmacist. Sometimes there is a simple remedy for those complaints, and it can make a huge difference to your day-to-day wellbeing.
